A Thin Scar

When she died I felt the
------ pain
Directed to my heart
Like a bursting balloon, it
------exploded
As though hit by a vanishing
------dart.

Bleeding and in pieces
My heart just ached and cried
Its gaping hole gushed out
------sadness
For the precious one who died.

As time passed on, my heart
------began
To heal its jagged edge
The bleeding stopped, the hole
------then closed
Leaving a thin scarred wedge.

My heart's thin scar will always
------remain
And be a weak spot in my soul
I fear that it will burst again
Reopening the sensitive hole.

Reopening means to feel again
The pain that drained my life
It means to bleed that same
------old sadness
That cuts just like a knife.

I pray my thin scarred heart is
------strong
That it will hide my wounded
------self
And the emotions that can
------fill me
Will be kept neatly on their shelf.

Yet when I feel some
------happinesss
Or sadness, or anger, or love
I know that thin scar is
------weakening
Remembering my one above.
